Buhaguzi Action For Rural Development Foundation(BUARDEFO) has planned to support 5000 women in Buhimba sub county Kikuube district with entrepreneurial training and micro credits. The micro credit program will be based on group lending methodology targeting the poor economically active women whose capacity to acquire funding from banks is hard. We shall begin by recruiting the existing solidarity groups, support them with basic business and savings skills before extending the micro credits
Buhimba is the third largest sub county in Kikuube district currently comprising of four parishes . The Sub-County is located 15.3 kms from Hoima Town (via Hoima-Kyenjojo road) where some banks are located. However, despite the long distance people travel to find the banks, existing banks do not have the will to work with the poor especially these women thus need for the micro credit program.
The program will commence with training the existing groups to become solidarity groups to guarantee their members for micro credit which will help them to start their income generating businesses.BUARDEFO will work with the local and parish leaders to mobilise rural and poor community members for community sensitization meetings in which the programme coordinator will get the opportunity to sensitize the community about the BUARDEFO-Loan programme and its terms and condition to be followed
The program targets to impact the rural poor economically active women and they will benefit in the following ways -Incomes will generally be boosted thus improving the standard of living of the women -Financial literacy skills of the women will be boosted through basic training -A savings culture is to be built thus helping women survive even in hard situations like the Covid 19 era -Employment will be created for young and mature women who will be supported to set up their own enterprises
