During this four-month period, our organization was a reliable point of contact for 890 individuals who required clear and accessible legal information and assistance. Our work not only helped them to successfully navigate the complexities of national asylum procedures but also addressed a range of other pressing legal issues. A key strategic focus was our digital legal aid service, which responded to a significant volume of requests. 200 refugees and asylum seekers received direct, personalized legal assistance through this efficient digital platform, ensuring that help remained accessible regardless of location.
In our work, our cultural mediators play a significant role. From May to August, our team of dedicated mediators—proficient in Ukrainian/Russian, Arabic, Farsi, and Pashto—facilitated meaningful two-way communication and support for 250 beneficiaries. Their deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by displaced persons in Bulgaria, often informed by their own life experiences, allows them to provide more than just practical information on housing, education, healthcare, and social security. They offer a level of social and emotional support that is both empathetic and impactful.
Our commitment to providing trustworthy and empowering resources was also demonstrated through our informational platform, Refugeelight.bg. The platform’s reach continues to expand, with 110,590 users visiting during this reporting period. It remains an invaluable tool, enabling individuals to independently access clear, reliable information about their rights and available services, thus fostering greater self-reliance and dignity.
