October Update from Uganda Hands for Hope

By Tai Kuncio | Project Leader

Greetings from Uganda!

As we move into the final term of the Ugandan school year, our P7 students will be sitting their Primary Leaving Exams (PLEs) prior to setting off for Secondary School and we will be welcoming a new class of the most vulnerable infants from the Namuwongo community into the school.

On other news, October 11th was the International Day of the Girl Child and we were delighted to have sent a group of learners to represent Uganda Hands for Hope at an event in Luwero.

In Uganda, around half of girls between 15 to 24 are illiterate and up to 80% do not attend Secondary School.  To foster more targeted support for the girls of the Namuwongo slum, we've decided to start a new project on GlobalGiving that focuses just on girls.  You can learn more about it here.

We've also recently started running a program, in partnership with Fundi Bots, to teach our students about the exciting world of science and technology. They will be using all sorts of normal household materials, combined with new skills in engineering and maths, to explore robotics and scientific innovation!

If you are interested in helping set up a project with our students, or have any ideas about such opportunities, please get in touch with us at info@onlinehope.org and help us broaden the horizons of the children at UHfH!

Without help from you - our friends and supporters, our work would not be possible. As always, we are very grateful for all of your support.

Thank you!
