Greetings from Uganda!
The school year is coming to a close and the holidays are just around the corner! Excitement has been building as the leaving P7 class was celebrated for their achievements; the graduating students have completed their exams and are now helping out in the rest of the school until the end of the term. We're also prepping for our annual holiday party and getting ready to welcome a brand new cohort into our Baby class after the new year!
December also means that it's almost Giving Tuesday - a global day of giving! In just one week (Tuesday, December 3rd), all donations made through the GlobalGiving site will be eligible for matching funds so MARK YOUR CALENDAR! This holiday season we will be highlighting our brand new project that focuses on the most vulnerable girls of Namuwongo.
In other news, we recently welcomed the Uganda Taekwondo Federation for our first training session. Beginning with a group meditation (who'd have thought a school could be so quiet!) and the children spent the morning getting introduced to the art of Taekwondo. The kids loved it and we plan to continue the trainings every Saturday - stay tuned!
We'd also like to say big welcome to our brand new staff member, Fifi, who has started providing dedicated 1:1 support to those students that are really struggling. Thanks to her hard work, we're already seeing improvements big improvement in the children's reading ability and interest in class.
And finally, a big THANK YOU to Farm to Table for their generous donation of dried fruits for the children. Most of them had never tasted such a delicious treat before!!
If you are interested in helping set up some kind of project with our students, or have any ideas about potential partnerships, please get in touch with us at info@onlinehope.org and help us broaden the horizons of the children at UHfH!
Without help from you - our friends and supporters - our work would not be possible. As always, we are very grateful for all of your support.
Thank you!
