Although, we are accelerating ART/ARVs Door Step Delivery Model to elderl on care. Picking drugs on clients behalf from their distinct facilities. It is now overwhelming towards responding to everyone calls for delivery and support towards viral suppression. Many elders persons, who live in smaller towns or rural areas but are registered with the government hospitals in cities are finding it difficult to travel amid the expensive public transport due to COVID-19.Lack of ARVs=High mortal rates.
The insight of this project is contributed with the current pandemic, It has become so tuff to elderly in Migori-Homabay. People are unable to access their ART/ARVs due to pandemic prone of COVID-19 to elders. No transport and if it is available then expensive. Taxi transport has been burnt due to the Kenya-Tanzania boarder crossover issues. Everyone is focusing on COVID-19 forgetting HIV suppression .We are accelerating ART/ARVs Door Step Delivery Model to our elderly person on care.
The social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus, has also affected the quick service delivery on 'due dates' for clients, forcing others to return home without drugs and come back the next day due to fear of Curfew. We are in fear as well of losing a number of elderl due to immune system compromise. As an organization we believe this initiative will have great impactful results, one being that it will sustain accessibility of health care services, which will curb the ARVs default
