From the needs assessment for the COVID-19 situation conducted by Save the Children Albania, the data show that 70% of respondents stated that they do not have the financial means to provide protective equipment and hygiene to protect themselves from COVID-19. The project will provide support with hygienic packages for families and especially for children.
COVID-19 broke out in Albania on March 9, 2020. Since then, the government made immediately the decision of total closure to protect citizens from the infection. The imposed lockdown's impact on the most deprived and vulnerable categories is extreme and is disrupting the distribution of much needed services to children and their families, which in turn is critically and directly impacting their health, education, protection and access to food, hygiene and other basic needs
To be more protected from COVID-19 children, all hygienic and sanitary materials will be provided both in a personalized way and for the environments where they learn. Also families in need where there are elderly people in their composition, parents where they are also at risk of COVID-19. Thus, by providing hygienic and sanitary packages to these families, they will be protected.
The children and families who will be offered help will alleviate their poverty during this period and give them the opportunity to recover from this pandemic situation.
