Strengthening Cross-Border Coordination Between Ug
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Strengthening Cross-Border Coordination Between Uganda and DRC
As Ebola cases continue to be reported in both Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, cross-border coordination remains essential to preventing further spread. Movement between the two countries is frequent due to trade, family ties, and daily livelihoods.
Because of your support, efforts to strengthen collaboration between border communities and health authorities are ongoing. With your contributions, we have:
- Supported awareness efforts in border communities
- Encouraged early reporting of symptoms among travelers
- Strengthened communication between community leaders and response teams
As a result, communities along border areas are more informed and better prepared to respond quickly if symptoms appear. Increased vigilance is helping reduce the risk of undetected cross-border transmission.
Local leaders are also playing a key role in promoting prevention practices and encouraging cooperation with health guidelines.
Your support is helping build a coordinated response that goes beyond borders—protecting communities on both sides and strengthening regional efforts to contain Ebola.

Integrating Ebola Response with Essential Health S
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Integrating Ebola Response with Essential Health Services
While responding to Ebola, it is critical to ensure that other essential health services continue uninterrupted. Your support is helping integrate Ebola prevention and response efforts into broader healthcare delivery.
Before this approach, some communities experienced disruptions in routine services due to fear and resource strain. With your contributions, we have:
- Supported healthcare facilities in maintaining essential services
- Integrated Ebola screening and awareness into routine care
- Encouraged safe access to health services for non-Ebola conditions
As a result, communities are more confident in seeking healthcare when needed, reducing the risk of untreated illnesses and complications.
This integrated approach strengthens the health system while ensuring that Ebola response efforts do not come at the expense of overall community health.
Your support is helping create a balanced, resilient system—one that can respond to emergencies while continuing to care for everyday health needs.

Supporting High-Density and Informal Settlements
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Supporting High-Density and Informal Settlements
High-density and informal settlements present unique challenges in Ebola prevention due to close living conditions, shared facilities, and limited access to resources.
Thanks to your support, targeted interventions are reaching these vulnerable communities with tailored approaches that reflect their specific needs.
With your contributions, we have:
- Installed shared handwashing facilities in high-traffic areas
- Delivered focused awareness campaigns adapted to local conditions
- Engaged community leaders to promote prevention practices
As a result, residents are better equipped to reduce transmission risks despite environmental challenges. Increased access to hygiene facilities and accurate information is helping communities adopt safer daily practices.
These efforts are also helping reduce stigma and improve cooperation with response teams.
Your support is ensuring that even the most vulnerable populations are not left behind—strengthening the overall effectiveness of the Ebola response across all community settings.
