Supporting Frontline Health Workers in Action
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Because of your support, frontline health workers are now better prepared and protected as they respond to Ebola cases in real time.
In one treatment setting in Kampala, a healthcare worker shared how access to proper protective equipment and updated training has changed how they manage patients. Previously, limited supplies and uncertainty increased risk. Today, they are able to confidently provide care while following strict safety protocols.
With your contributions, we have:
- Equipped frontline staff with essential protective gear
- Delivered training on infection prevention and safe patient handling
- Strengthened facility-level safety procedures
As a result, health workers are safer, more confident, and more effective in their roles.
Your support is not only improving systems—it is directly impacting the people risking their lives to save others.

Improved Community Reporting Rates
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Impact Update – Improved Community Reporting Rates
One of the most encouraging outcomes of your support is the increase in community-led reporting of suspected Ebola cases.
Before these efforts, fear, stigma, and lack of information often delayed reporting. Now, with expanded awareness and engagement, communities are taking action.
With your help, we have:
- Reached hundreds of individuals with clear, accurate health information
- Engaged trusted local leaders to encourage early reporting
- Reduced misinformation that previously discouraged people from seeking help
As a result, more suspected cases are being reported earlier, allowing faster response and reducing the risk of spread.
This shift toward proactive reporting is a major step forward in controlling the outbreak.
Your impact is empowering communities to act—and that is saving lives.

Strengthening Contact Monitoring Systems
By Zachery Onyango | Project Leader
Impact Update – Strengthening Contact Monitoring Systems
Your support has helped transform how exposed individuals are monitored during this Ebola response.
Previously, gaps in follow-up systems made it harder to track all contacts consistently. With your contributions, we have:
- Strengthened monitoring systems for individuals exposed to confirmed cases
- Supported teams conducting daily follow-ups with contacts
- Improved data tracking to ensure no one is missed
As a result, more contacts are being monitored effectively throughout the critical observation period. This has significantly reduced the risk of undetected transmission.
Improved contact monitoring is one of the clearest indicators of a strong Ebola response—and your support is making it possible.
Because of you, fewer cases are slipping through the cracks, and more transmission chains are being stopped early.
