Update on the progress report on

By Samuel Akaraonye | Founder/CEO

During one of our baseline surveys in a rural community, we met Amina, a 27-year-old expectant mother who shared her story. Having lost her first child during childbirth due to a lack of prenatal care, Amina was determined to seek better care this time. However, with no access to a nearby clinic and no means to afford regular checkups, she was feeling hopeless. Through our interaction, Amina learned about our upcoming maternal health workshops and family planning services. Her gratitude was palpable, and her words resonated deeply: "If only someone had told me earlier, maybe I wouldn’t have suffered so much." Stories like Amina's inspire us to press on, ensuring that no mother has to navigate motherhood alone or uninformed.

Gratitude and Acknowledgment

We extend our sincere gratitude to our donors and supporters who continue to stand by us in our mission to improve maternal healthcare and promote family planning in Nigeria. Your unwavering commitment is instrumental in addressing the challenges faced by women and families in underserved communities.

Overview

The Maternal Healthcare & Family Planning in Nigeria project aims to reduce maternal mortality, improve reproductive health services, and promote family planning awareness. By providing access to healthcare, education, and essential resources, this project seeks to empower women to make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing while fostering healthier families and communities.

Current Status and Challenges

During this reporting period, we focused on building foundational support for our project while addressing some operational challenges, such as funding constraints and limited access to remote areas. Despite these hurdles, we have made significant strides in mobilizing partnerships and planning impactful interventions.

Key Achievements This Quarter:

Conducted baseline surveys to assess maternal health needs in target communities.

Collaborated with healthcare professionals to design tailored maternal health workshops.

Engaged with local leaders and stakeholders to advocate for better family planning services.

Challenges:

Limited funding has restricted the scale of our outreach efforts.

Poor infrastructure in some rural areas has made access difficult for both healthcare providers and beneficiaries.

Upcoming Programs

To address the identified gaps and make a measurable impact, we are planning a major outreach event in February/March. The program will include:

1. Health Education Workshops:

Topics: Safe pregnancy, childbirth practices, and the importance of postnatal care.

2. Family Planning Clinics:

Services: Counseling on contraceptive options, free distribution of contraceptives, and reproductive health services.

3. Distribution of Maternal Health Kits:

Contents: Prenatal vitamins, hygiene essentials, and educational materials.

4. Capacity Building for Healthcare Workers:

Focus: Training midwives and community health workers to improve maternal care services.

Vision, Mission, and Goals

Vision: To ensure every woman in Nigeria has access to quality maternal healthcare and family planning services, leading to healthier families and communities.

Mission: To reduce maternal mortality and promote reproductive health through education, advocacy, and access to essential services.

Goals:

1. Provide quality maternal healthcare services to underserved women.

2. Increase awareness and uptake of family planning services.

3. Train healthcare professionals to deliver efficient and culturally sensitive care.

Call for Support

We cannot achieve these goals without your support. Your contributions will help us:

Reach more women with lifesaving healthcare services.

Equip families with knowledge and resources to make informed decisions.

Expand our programs to underserved areas where the need is greatest.

Together, we can save lives and create a future where every mother and child thrives.

Conclusion

While challenges persist, our commitment to improving maternal healthcare and family planning in Nigeria remains unwavering. With your continued support, we are confident that our upcoming outreach programs will create lasting impact and bring us closer to a future of better health and empowered families.

Warm regards,
Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation
