Support deafblind children in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo, with nutritious meals, education materials, learning supplies, play equipment, healthcare materials and medicines. Over one year, this project will help create a safer, more supportive learning environment where deafblind children can learn, play, receive care and develop with dignity.
Deafblind children in Goma face major barriers to education, nutrition, play and basic care. Limited learning materials, inadequate play equipment, food insecurity and shortages of healthcare supplies can make daily learning and development even harder. For a child who already experiences communication and sensory barriers, these missing essentials can mean fewer opportunities to learn, participate and feel included.
The project will support deafblind children in Goma for one year by providing regular meals, education and learning materials, accessible play equipment, and essential supplies for the staff who care for them. Healthcare materials and medicines will also help meet basic care needs. Together, these resources will create a safer, more supportive environment for learning, play and development.
Over time, consistent access to food, education, learning materials, play and basic healthcare can help deafblind children build confidence, communication skills and greater independence. A better-supported learning environment can also strengthen the capacity of caregivers and educators, helping children participate more fully in school and community life. The goal is lasting inclusion, dignity and opportunity for deafblind children in Goma.
