Siam-Care will support 50 vulnerable youth of poor and/or HIV affected families to enroll in a vocational training or university study, in order to break away from the cycle of poverty.
In Thailand, education up to the age of 15, high school grade 3, is mandatory and subsidized. Poor or orphaned youth will often not continue their schooling, due to lack of financial resources. These youth are expected to get a job and help contribute to the family's expenses. With only a grade 3 certificate they end up in the lowest paid jobs in factories, construction sites or worse, illigal trades such as prostitution, with little or no prospect of personal or professional growth or income.
This project will provide financial support and advice to youth from vulnerable background so they can continue their education on a higher level; giving them prospects for better future jobs and for reaching their own full potential.
50 youth from a vulnerable background will have received an advanced level of vocational or academic education, which has enabled them to arise out of poverty and provide for their personal and their families’ well-being.
