Door to door water supply to the coastal people
BEDS has been providing door to door safe drinking water with minimum charge in Banishanta and Laudove union. As a result, more than 20 villages of these unions are getting safe drinking water. Local people are now free from the anxiety of safe drinking water crisis.
There is no alternative of Water for human life. In Sundarbans region of Bangladesh, saline water is everywhere with limited fresh water sources. The coastal people have to depend on rainwater. They store water in plastic tank and traditional mud made pots in the monsoon which is not sufficient for them to drink for the whole year. In the summer, there is hardly any rain. Besides, they use water in the agricultural production. As a result, rivers, canals and ponds become dry. Extreme water crisis appears then. Through the existing facilities of BEDS (Solar Pond Sand and filter, Reverse Osmosis and 7 water wells) more than 9000 coastal villagers are getting safe drinking water. Now we are selecting sites for installing 8 more water wells in different coastal villages.
We would like to thank all our donors for their amazing and continuous support for the coastal deprived people. We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation by clicking the following link;

Safe drinking water is suppling door to door
Safe drinking water demand is increasing with the increase of population in Bangladesh. There is water everywhere in the Sundarbans coastal region. But the water is saline; it is not fit for drinking. The coastal people have to depend on rain water. In the summer season the rain is scarce and they are bound to drink nearby ponds and canals water. Thus most of the people suffer from various kinds of water contaminated diseases.
BEDS has been trying to provide safe drinking water to the climate vulnerable underprivileged Sundarbans coastal community since 2015. We have re-excavated 3 ponds and established Solar Pond Sand and filter system. BEDS has installed 2 Reverse Osmosis water purification systems with Water ATM in Paschim Dhangmari and Uttor Banishanta village. 7 water wells have also been installed. So, more than 9000 coastal villagers are getting safe drinking water from our service. Currently, BEDS is providing door to door safe drinking water with minimum charge in Banishanta union. As a result, villagers of 17 villages of this union are getting safe drinking water. Local people are now free from the anxiety of safe drinking water crisis.
Now we are planning to install 8 more water wells in different coastal villages. As a result the 45% people of the Banishanta Union are now getting access to pure drinking water. But this is not sufficient for the large coastal community.

Installation of water well is on process
BEDS has been trying to provide safe drinking water to the climate vulnerable underprivileged Sundarbans coastal community since 2015. We have re-excavated 3 ponds and established Solar Pond Sand and filter system. BEDS has installed 2 Reverse Osmosis water purification systems with Water ATM in Paschim Dhangmari and Uttor Banishanta village. 7 water wells have also been installed. As a result the 45% people of the Banishanta Union are now getting access to pure drinking water. But this is not sufficient for the large coastal community. Now we are trying to ensure safe drinking water to 100% people of Banishanta Union. We have a great desire to supply safe water door to door. After installing the Reverse Osmosis Water Purification systems and water wells, water contaminated diseases like cholera, dysentery, jaundice etc are about to disappear from the supported villages.
This is Ashok. I live in Paschim Dhangmari Village. I earn my livelihood by catching fish from the Sundarbans. Generally I go to fish for 15-20 days and stay in the Sundarbans. Most of time I suffer from various kinds of water contaminated diseases and it hampers my fishing activities. I take water from the RO plant of Paschim Dhangmari and I get relax from the water contaminated diseases during my fishing period.
