Access to potable water for coastal people

There is no alternative of drinking water for living beings on earth. But a huge number of people all over the world have no or little access of drinking water. Condition of safe drinking water access for the people of Bangladesh is identical. The problem is bigger in Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh. In summer, the crisis becomes extremely extreme when the water level goes down from the ponds.

BEDS is extremely concerned with the issue and trying to provide safe drinking water among the marginal and deprived community. So far, BEDS has re-excavated 3 ponds, established 3 solar powered Pond Sand and Filter systems, established three Reverse Osmosis water purification systems with Water ATM and set up 7 water wells in the Sundarbans coastal region of Bangladesh. From our installed facilities, over 9000 people are getting safe drinking water. Now BEDS is planning to set up seven more water wells in that region so that underprivileged people can get better access of safe drinking water. We hope that around 3500 more villagers will get the facility of safe drinking water from our proposed initiative.    

‘Namita’ a coastal housewife said, ‘Water borne diseases are no longer exist in my family after getting safe drinking water from BEDS installed systems. Before that, all the members of my family got suffered through water borne disease.’
