Initiative for door to door Water Supply

By M. Sabrin Ahmed Roty | Project Contributor

Safe drinking water is suppling door to door
Safe drinking water is suppling door to door

Safe drinking water demand is increasing with the increase of population in Bangladesh. There is water everywhere in the Sundarbans coastal region. But the water is saline; it is not fit for drinking. The coastal people have to depend on rain water. In the summer season the rain is scarce and they are bound to drink nearby ponds and canals water. Thus most of the people suffer from various kinds of water contaminated diseases.

BEDS has been trying to provide safe drinking water to the climate vulnerable underprivileged Sundarbans coastal community since 2015. We have re-excavated 3 ponds and established Solar Pond Sand and filter system. BEDS has installed 2 Reverse Osmosis water purification systems with Water ATM in Paschim Dhangmari and Uttor Banishanta village. 7 water wells have also been installed. So, more than 9000 coastal villagers are getting safe drinking water from our service. Currently, BEDS is providing door to door safe drinking water with minimum charge in Banishanta union. As a result, villagers of 17 villages of this union are getting safe drinking water. Local people are now free from the anxiety of safe drinking water crisis.

Now we are planning to install 8 more water wells in different coastal villages. As a result the 45% people of the Banishanta Union are now getting access to pure drinking water. But this is not sufficient for the large coastal community.

We would like to thank all our donors for their amazing and continuous support for the coastal deprived people. We are requesting all our donors to start monthly recurring donation. Please click the following link;
