Summary

So far, 58,966 people have participated in and benefited from Dufatanye's multitude of activities, from agricultural training and children's lessons to eco-friendly sanitary pads and clean water stations. But as our projects grow in size, our training hall stays the same. That's why we need a new training center. Your donation will directly support the construction of a new training facility that will properly accommodate our expanding services and projects.

Challenge

In Rwanda, 70% of the working population is employed in agriculture. As the population increases, landholdings shrink, and the climate changes, the livelihoods of farmers in the areas we serve are at risk. With more mouths to feed, the need to train households in intensive, sustainable agriculture to combat food insecurity is greater than ever. Despite this growing need, our current building's limited space cannot accommodate all activities or our goal of training 9,000 farmers annually.

Solution

The planned training facility totals 980 sqm. or 10,548.6 sqft., which includes 3 training rooms that can fit 200 people each, 2 offices for staff, 2 bathrooms, a garden, and a parking lot. With this additional space, all 600 children can participate in the Saturday Education Project even when it's raining. Also, the women's craft cooperative can have its own space to operate and sell products, and 10 staff members will have private offices, enabling them to focus more effectively on their work.

Long-Term Impact

We aim to train 9,000 farmers yearly; some trainees will pay to help sustain the project, while others will pay nothing or a small fee. Our hands-on trainings will equip community members with skills to sustainably farm their land, generate stable income, and adapt to future challenges. Graduates will return to their villages, share techniques, and multiply the impact. The center will also provide space for additional projects to expand, fostering youth engagement and community-led development.
