Our 3rd Academic Year of FOREFRONT School Has Started!

Our 3rd academic school year has officially launched in July 2022! Thanks to our school staff and their hard work in building a good reputation for our school, we have increased our student body size from 60 students in the 2021-2022 school year to 170 students for the 2022-2023 school year! This exceeded our expectations as the demand from the local community has been very high. To accommodate, we expanded to two additional grades. Now we have Pre-Kindergarten all the way to 3^rd grade. We will continue to expand further next year as well. We are grateful to have built good relationships with our local community.

As our school expanded, we also increased our school staff from 14 to 24 and we are excited to have them join us in making an impact! As the school year begun, our students are enjoying core cirriculum classes, art projects, and other fun activities developing their creative and motor skills. Our USA team will also be visiting our FORERONT School in September for the first time since the pandemic so we are excited to share updates from our ground visit in our next report!

FOREFRONT School Education Update

May 14, 2022 (FY22 Q2)

April 2022 marked the end of the second full academic year of FOREFRONT International School. At the end of the second year of classes, all 60 enrolled students reached the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) standard necessary to advance to the next grade level. This is a remarkable achievement and milestone in the development of FOREFRONT’s education projects as these are signs of sustainability and steady progress in student’s development.

These students overcame the obstacles of engaging in school during the COVID-19 pandemic by working and connecting with their teachers through tablets. Although some students fell behind in the development of motor skills because of virtual learning, such as the use of pen and pencil, upon reentering classes in Fall 2021, FOREFRONT teachers were able to build student capacity in basic writing skills. Now students are able to write numbers, the alphabet and basic English vocabulary words.

FOREFRONT has also seen the teachers in the school grow in their skills and capacity to provide teaching and administration to the school. Ahead of the next school year, FOREFRONT has promoted a Senior Teacher to School Administrator, who will lead the management of school operation, as well as a Teaching Assistant to Lead Teacher. This growth in teaching and administrative capacity is a result of consistent professional development that FOREFRONT provides to the teachers through online courses and technical assistance.

Looking ahead to next academic year, which will begin in July 2022, FOREFRONT International School has doubled enrollment from 60 to 120 students. The significant increase in the number of students in FOREFRONT International School is a testament to the quality of education and the word of mouth in the community.

Happy New Year from FOREFRONT School!

Introduction

FOREFRONT School is seeing steady progress in its mission serving the children from disadvantaged backgrounds. Though the country is hit by continuous ways by the pandemic, the children are keeping safe and taking advantage of the opportunities given by the school. The school reopened initially for students to attend in person classes on alternate days from mid-September. Now the school is fully open. With the school open for the students, learning has become an enjoyable experience for the students. Intended to provide quality education for children of the village Kollur, Andhra Pradesh, India FOREFRONT Charity has added more facilities and opportunities to the students in this new quarter.

Fun to go to School

We reopened the school for on campus learning along with a few students learning at home online. Though this helped us execute the social distancing protocols during the pandemic, students are now able to experience the joyful campus life. We were also in need of additional school buses to bring all the students to the school but soon thanks to your generosity, we were provided with two additional school buses which bring all our students from different nooks and corners of this rural area landscape.

As all the students have the opportunity to come to school in the comfort of the school bus, learning too started to become a pleasure for our students. The energy and the enthusiasm by being in-person is immeasurable. With the use of digital tools along with many hands-on activities, learning became exponentially effective for them. We are the only school in this area who use computer tablets to a great extent along with conventional tools.

With all the students coming to school, we see a tremendous growth in their literacy and numeracy skills. Though being first generation learners, the students have picked up speaking English to a great extent. They have become very confident in cultural celebration presentations all in English. We strongly believe they are the best among the students in this region.

All these are possible by the generosity of the donors.

Future Growth

Currently, FOREFRONT School has students up to 2nd grade. More classes will be added as we progress every year. Additional classes require additional infrastructural resources and human resources. Good teachers and better infrastructure give our students the best opportunities to be successful in this ever changing world.

We are looking forward to your continued support for many more years to come as we had two new classes in the new school year.
