FOREFRONT’s project progress is based on: 1) school building construction 2) education programming. FOREFRONT’s mission is to provide an excellent education to students who have limited education access in rural India.
School Building Construction
This past quarter, through a generous $50,000 donation, we are now fully funded to complete the first floor of the school! The first floor is expected to be completed by fall 2019. If you would like to support our second floor construction, please contact us at contact@goforefront.org.
Education Programming
In fall 2019, we will launch our after school English program, FOREFRONT English, at an orphanage in Tenali. During school construction, this orphanage will serve as our pilot program site. Having the pilot program here allows FOREFRONT to build on the existing relationships we’ve had with the local orphanage workers and children since 2015. Post-construction, we will expand FOREFRONT English to our school site.
FOREFRONT’s education team researched curriculum, and tapped into our network of educators for recommendations. We also analyzed results from our customized, diagnostic assessment of our students’ English skills and knowledge. Based on research, consultation, and our assessment data, we are excited to choose Jolly Phonics, a fun, engaging, and rigorous English curriculum. Teacher training books, student activity books, reading books, classroom decor, and school supplies have already arrived at the orphanage. We will supplement Jolly Phonics with culturally responsive materials aimed to develop consistent health and wellness practices.
We are also in the middle of teacher recruitment. Several of our team members are in Tenali right now (early June 2019) interviewing teacher candidates. We have set up a thorough system of resume screens, 1st and 2nd round interviews, teaching demonstrations, and background review to find the best teachers for FOREFRONT English. Our team members are also canvassing our students. We hope to share more about our wonderful students, such as their dreams, interests, and background with you soon.
