AfD has been busy working non stop to provide access to education in Afghanistan for young girls and street working children, working in times of national change, conflict, and natural disaster. 4.5 million children in Afghanistan do not have access to education.
The winter season has brought the challenges of freezing weather temperatures, which include access to adequate clothing for many, as well as food products and meeting basic needs. On January 18th, 2023 for example at least 78 people died in Afghanistan due to freezing weather patterns over the course of nine days.
This is why AfD’s project “Support Education for Marginalized Kabul Children” is essential in providing an education, the school lunch program and basic needs to the students, who may otherwise go without and be left behind from the right of an education. We need your continued support.
Street working children and young girls in Afghanistan continue to suffer and be affected by both national insecurity and increasingly devastating natural disasters and weather patterns without the infrastructure or means to be safe. AfD provides a safe environment for learning and continues to work around the clock to provide access to education for 500 street working children and young girls in Afghanistan.
AfD’s work to eradicate barriers to education and health for street working children, young girls and women in Afghanistan was recognized on the International Stage at the ‘Education Cannot Wait’ High Level Financing Conference in Switzerland, February 16-17 2023 that invited political and other leaders to position the educational needs of the 222 million children and adolescents that have been left behind to the right to an education.
AfD participated in round table discussions with major actors, and additionally developed a side event at the High Level Financing Conference (HLFC) showcasing AfD’s work to support the rights of the Afghan girls and young women to an education, the right to work as humanitarian workers, and to provide concrete recommendations for the international agenda.
Thank you for your support.
