Dear Friends and Supporters,
In Afghanistan, access to education remains deeply affected by ongoing restrictions, economic instability, and widespread poverty. For many vulnerable families, daily survival often takes priority over schooling. Children from poor households may be forced to work, stay at home, or interrupt their education because their families cannot afford the costs or because safe and consistent learning opportunities are limited.
Despite these challenges, Action for Development continues to support education for vulnerable children and families in Kabul. Our education programs provide a safe and supportive learning environment where children can continue their studies, strengthen their basic skills, and build confidence for the future. Today, more than 1,000 children benefit from Action for Development’s education services each year.
One of our students recently shared her story with us. She has been studying at the school for four years. When she first joined, she faced many difficulties in her studies. She struggled with Dari grammar, essay writing, English, and mathematics. Even when she tried hard, she found it difficult to solve exercises and follow lessons with confidence.
With the support of her teachers and the school environment, she has made steady progress. Today, she can introduce herself in English. She has improved her grammar and mathematics skills, and she can now solve fractions and other mathematical problems by herself. She also shared that even when she has not studied a lesson beforehand, she is now able to understand the material and complete the exercises independently.
Her story shows the quiet but powerful impact that education can have on a child’s life. Learning is not only about reading, writing, or mathematics. It is also about confidence, dignity, and the belief that a child can keep moving forward despite difficult circumstances.
“I am very happy with this school,” she shared. “I would like to thank everyone who supports us, especially our respected teachers and everyone who works hard for us and makes it possible for us to study here.”
Her words remind us why continued support is so important. For children who face poverty, instability, and limited access to education, a safe place to learn can make a lasting difference. It gives them the opportunity to build skills, regain confidence, and imagine a future beyond the challenges they face today.
At Action for Development, we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to learn in a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment. With your support, we can continue helping children in Kabul stay in school, strengthen their skills, and build hope for a more secure and dignified future.
Thank you for standing with the children and families we serve. Your generosity helps make education possible for children who need it most.
