Dear friends and well-wishers,
After years of sponsoring needy children in Uganda at Primary, Secondary and tertiary levels using financial support from well-wishers and donors from Uganda and beyond we have made successes, impacted many lives and learned a lot in the process. Some of the successes have been that some of the needy children we have supported have graduated and are having gainful employment. The needy children whom we sponsored a year ago to complete Primary and Ordinary level certificate awarding exams are making good academic progress and have progressed to upper classes. They were lucky to find new sponsors since ours was just short-lived and focused to the candidate classes.
One key lesson to us has been that continuous requests for donor support much as helpful are very unsustainable. As a consequence, construction of a new private school will commence in February 2019 with a strategy to start enrolling primary children in February 2020. The plan is to give 2- 5% slots (initially) of the total enrolment to needy children. This is because the main financier has been the brain behind our scholarship for needy children and hence is setting up this school with one of the objectives being ‘helping a reasonable number of needy children to attain free but quality education’. A number of positive steps have been made on this project – notably land acquisition, approval of building plans and piped water acquisition on site. So we are hopeful that come 2020, we will be opening up to the first cohort of needy children. As construction gets underway, I will be sharing pictures of progress made and other commencement plans.
It should also be noted that we continue receiving requests for scholarships from needy children at various education levels and any assistance directed towards this cause is highly welcome. We can give it to those in dire need!!
Happy 2019, may you all get your desires!!
Thanks,
