Happy Holidays from the Uganda Education Project team and our scholars. Thanks to the generosity of our donors, we were able to provide scholarships for 9 students in 2013.
This was exciting year for the Uganda Education Project as we embarked on a new pilot program to support five of our top scholars for university education. These students had been part of the Uganda Education Project during their secondary education, and due to high marks on their national boards were accepted into diploma and degree programs at local universities. Our university scholars are studying subjects including finance, engineering, nursing and accounting. The knowledge and skills they gain will empower them to become leaders in their local communities, and also open employment opportunities that require advanced training.
All our students successfully completed the 2013 academic terms, and are looking forward to continuing their education. In 2014, all our curent scholars will finish their secondary and university programs, and begin seeking employment opportunities. As academic programs come to a close, we will continue to support our scholars with career guidance and mentorship to ensure they maximize their potential.
Most exciting, this year we are hoping to start a new cohort of students for secondary education. This will require an annual budget of $7,000 USD. We appreciate all the support we have had in 2013 and have raised nearly $3,000 USD through GlobalGiving. Please spread the word about our project to your friends, family and colleagues who may be interested in supporting our work.
Thank you!
