The truth is that Rwandan basic education is not affordable, accessible and inclusive for all children. Many children with disabilities or born from underserved parents with disabilities are denied their right to education due to lack of medical insurance, prosthetics and scholastic materials. Due to extreme poverty, parents are not able to provide medical insurance, prosthetics & scholastic materials for their children to attend school. In sorrows, they decide to detain their children at home.
The project will provide Medical insurance and scholastic materials to 121 children with disabilities or born from parents with disabilities. We shall also provide a routine counseling to these children; their parents will be trained on how to start income generating activities that will enable them to support their children's education and health. The project will also advocate for these children so that they can be inclusively welcomed by elementally schools found in or near their communities.
Children with disabilities will be able to access medical care, prosthetics and their right to education will be restored, they will go to school, study, play and acquire quality education together with other children of their generation. Like others, children with disabilities will achieve their educational dreams and be supportive to their families, communities and their country in general. Their success will be a great witness towards their education right restoration and continual advocacy.
