Project Report | Mar 6, 2025
Second Quarterly Report

By Gihana Jackson | Legal Representative

Project overview

This project is focused on providing medical insurance, scholastic materials and counseling to 121 children with disabilities or children born to parents with disabilities, providing entrepreneurial training to their parents and advocating for the inclusion of these children in local elementary schools.

Key activities and progress

1. Medical insurance and scholastic materials

Meanwhile we are waiting for donations, we have made a significant progress in preparing for the distribution of medical insurance and scholastic materials once funds become available. We have also completed the logistics of distribution planning.

2. Counseling services

Even though funds has not been secured to begin full-scale counseling, the project team conducted informational sessions with parents about the benefits of counseling and how to support their children's emotional well-being. These initial discussions laid the groundwork for future services.

3. Parent training on income-generating activities

The project has developed a curriculum for training parents on income-generating activities. Without funding, we are offered free informational sessions, sharing resources, and providing guidance on how parents can start small-scale income-generating activities that may support their children's education and health.

4. Advocacy for inclusive education

Advocacy efforts are still continuing through community connection and awareness-raising activities. We met local school officials and parents and discussed the importance of inclusive education and raised awareness about the rights of children with disabilities to be included in mainstream schools; though the advocacy is still on small scale.

Challenges

While key project activities have been delayed due to a lack of funding, the team has continued to focus on actions that make beneficiaries ready for their project involvement, such as information sessions and advocacy.

Plans for next quarter

The team will continue to engage with local schools and communities to advocate for inclusive education and build support for the project. As funding becomes available, we will begin providing medical insurance, scholastic materials, counseling services, and formal training for parents.

Conclusion

We believe that we shall get donations and we making progress in advocacy and preparatory activities. Our team remains committed to the objectives of the project and is focused on ensuring that once funding is available, we can move forward with providing essential services to the children and families in need.
