Our Partner organisation Nishtha provides hope and healing to those have disabilities and mental health challenges, regardless of their financial circumstances. This not only affects the child who is being supported and receiving treatment, but also the parents/caretakers.
Here, the mother of Vihaan shares her delight.
'Vihaan faced many challenges due to our family’s financial limitations. The Baruipur Government Hospital, constrained by resources, referred us to Nishtha when they could not offer the necessary therapy. To add to our trials, my husband left due to the strain of our son’s illness.
For six years, Nishtha has been our beacon of hope, providing Vihaan with complimentary treatment. The psychiatric care he received was transformative; where once he would flee from home when things felt too much, he now is a consistent presence in the home. His education has resumed, and his ability to communicate has grown.
This change witnessed by our kin and neighbours is celebrated and recognised. Words fail to showcase the depth of our gratitude towards Nishtha and Karuna. Their unwavering support has not only restored Vihaan’s health but has also rekindled our joy.'
Thanks to your support, many parents and children with disabilities are supported to access free care, treatment and community.
