Challenge

Women make significant daily contributions to their households as employed wage earners as entrepreneurs, and as caretakers to their families. However, female farmers are less likely to succeed compared to their family counterparts; this problem is often due to a number of setbacks that range from lack of same access to seeds, credit, Extention services, and tech knowledge. Given that most rural women in Kigezi are involved in Agriculture, they are tasked with a big burden of food security.

Solution

The women who participate in the food security project by women in Kigezi will be trained on the benefits of land use by women, Microfinance, Food, and nutrition, Climate change, and their role as caretakers of their homes. This means Women will have access to land use, own domestic animals, access extension services, and credit as well. More women working with our extensio officers will mean more food and more for the increasing population and increased household incomes for the beneficiaries.

Long-Term Impact

The project shall have at least 500 Women and Youth who are able to support the increase of food security and use of by-products of biogas for climate-smart agriculture and 2000 tree seedlings planted for long-term sustainable development and promotion of low carbon climate-resilient development. This means that our communities will be food secure through empowered women in the food security project. Women are able to own their own money in the production of food and climate change activities.
