Update: Support Children in Gaza and the West Bank

Dear Friend,

For the hundreds of thousands of displaced children and their families living in makeshift shelters across the Gaza Strip, the onset of winter has brought a dangerous threat to lives already hanging in the balance.

With your generous support, UNICEF has integrated winterization across all its interventions to ensure children remain safe, warm, and able to access essential services even in the harshest winter conditions. In Gaza, UNICEF has mobilized one of its largest winter stockpiles to date, aiming to reach every child under 10 with blankets and winter kits, while prioritizing newborns in all maternity hospitals for immediate support. Thanks to your support, more children are staying healthy, protected, and resilient through the winter season. Key results include

957,731 thermal blankets distributed to help families cope with cold temperatures and damp conditions.
291,896 winter clothing kits, including insulated footwear for children, delivered to improve warmth and protection.
392,711 tarpaulins supplied to reinforce and weatherproof makeshift shelters, with 22,300 more in transit and an additional 238,160 under procurement.
Nearly 1,000 shelter and household toolkits delivered to support basic shelter repairs and meet essential household needs.
Over 1,000 high-performance tents deployed to withstand severe winter weather and sustain critical services, including health and nutrition points, temporary learning spaces, and child-friendly spaces – with thousands more in the pipeline..
Humanitarian cash, reached 284,600 people, including 150,000 children, across 48,500 families , with most families receiving support at least twice.
Emergency water supply is being sustained through 56 water trucks and 14 relocated desalination plants, together producing 83 million liters of safe water per day, reaching cumulatively 1.6 million people, including 600,000 children.

Dear Friend,

With your generous support, ahead of the recent ceasefire announcement, UNICEF prepositioned more than 1,300 trucks ready to deliver tents, nutrition items, essential medicines and vaccines, learning and recreation kits, and water and sanitation supplies. With the ceasefire now in effect, UNICEF’s 3-month Response Plan focuses on urgent life-saving support while catalyzing early recovery. The approach integrates interventions across nutrition, health, water and sanitation, education, and child protection, prioritizing famine prevention, winterization, and community recovery.

One of UNICEF’s key priorities is restoring safe and reliable access to water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), which is critical both to the famine response and to preventing further public health risks, particularly as Gaza enters the winter season when flooding and disease outbreaks become more likely. Other priorities include nutrition, health, education, winterization, child protection, mental health and psychosocial support, and social protection.

With your support, UNICEF is implementing an accelerated WASH response, including the restoration of water supply and distribution systems across Gaza and the rehabilitation and operation of desalination plants through the provision of fuel, chemicals, and critical spare parts. Priority is being given to systems where rapid repairs can immediately increase water production and distribution. For example, repairs to public water and wastewater facilities such as the Southern Gaza Seawater Desalination Plant (SGDP) are essential to maintaining operations and ensuring communities have access to safe and reliable water.

Update: Support Children in Gaza and the West Bank

Dear Friend,

Following 19 months of conflict and over 60 days of aid and commercial supply blockade, all 2.1 million people in Gaza face a critical risk of famine, with one in five already experiencing starvation-level conditions. Before hostilities resumed, the United Nations operated a vast and effective aid delivery system inside Gaza. During the recent cease-fire, we were delivering assistance like essential vaccines and medicine, lifesaving nutrition services and access to clean water through more than 400 distribution points, including in sites close to shelters for displaced families. UNICEF and partners went even further, delivering aid door-to-door, reaching malnourished children and pregnant women directly in their places of refuge. UNICEF’s Executive Director Catherine Russel says Children in Gaza Are Starving. Let the U.N. Do Its Job.

With your support, UNICEF continues to pursue one goal: to ensure that every child can grow up healthy, educated, protected, and respected.

In April alone, UNICEF provided cash assistance to 10,126 families in Gaza, helping them meet urgent needs amid ongoing conflict. At the same time, UNICEF and partners delivered Ready-to-Use Complementary Food to 13,481 children, addressing critical nutrition needs during a time of extreme scarcity.

Access to healthcare remained a priority. In April 98,510 people accessed primary healthcare services through UNICEF-supported facilities. Additionally, 3,593 children under one received the Penta vaccine, which protects against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, hepatitis B, and Hib. To strengthen routine immunization efforts, solar-powered cold chain equipment was installed at five new medical points, three in Gaza and two in Deir al Balah, and a partner-operated field hospital was equipped. As many immunization sites have been lost, UNICEF is also supporting operational hospitals.
