Mandela day is always a day of great excitement at the Fikelela Childrens Centre as lots of visitors come to play with the kids and to volunteers
First up was the Traffic department all dressed up.. They taught the kids how to be safe crossing a road. The children were a bit scared of Dan the Cat but cheered up when snacks were brought out!
Then came teh Police, not dressed up in uniform. It was very special for the kids to play with men as all of their carers are women and they dont get many chanced to interact with men
And then came Uncle tony from Cosatu who treated them all to a KFC! What a day!
For our kids, many who have only experienced abuse, neglect or abandonment from their biological fathers, it was a wonderful day to meet strong, caring male role models and to see the kind of men they can grow up to become. What a wondeful MAN(DELA) day!
