In Sagaing Region's Ingyinbin community, monks and villagers face severe food and water shortages as conflict, burned villages, and displacement continue to strain local resources. Recent attacks have forced families to flee and seek refuge in monasteries across the region. This project will provide emergency meals and install a water system to ensure reliable water access for the monastery and surrounding community.
Ingyinbin Monastery in Sagaing Region shelters about 100 monks and nuns who now face severe shortages of food and water. Ongoing conflict, burned villages, displacement, and fuel shortages have strained local communities that traditionally provide alms. Electricity outages also make it difficult to pump water, leaving the monastery struggling to access reliable drinking and utility water.
This project will provide emergency food support, especially morning meals, for the monastic community while also installing a water system. This will allow the monastery to pump and store water, ensuring reliable access to clean water for monks, nuns, and nearby villagers.
Water access will provide sustainable water for the monastery and surrounding community for years to come. Stable food support during the crisis will help monks and nuns continue their spiritual and educational roles, while the monastery remains a refuge and support center for villagers affected by conflict and displacement in Sagaing Region.
