Background

Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in Africa, ranks 182 out of 189 countries in the human development index. Additionally, it ranks below average compared to countries in Sub-Saharan Africa. Action10 is now aiming to raise funds to provide lab equipment to the laboratories in Burkina Faso that currently experience a lack of resources. This will enable the laboratory to bring the research, on water quality among other things, forward and improve the standard of living.

Project update

In our last project update we outlined how we were starting a virtual capacity strengthening programme for laboratory staff, with a planned examination in November 2023. However, we now want to inform that the planned training has been postponed as we are determined to ensure training that is self-driven and not a donor-driven programme that lack sustainable impact. Hence, to ensure that we can provide training with lasting impact, we are empowering our Human Rights & Science (HR&S) Network for Technicians. Our HR&S Network will benefit from our HR&S Management Strategy for Change ROPE (Real-time Outcome Planning & Evaluation), and we have initiated monthly on-line meetings with the Network Team-leaders where we provide ROPE coaching and a platform for knowledge sharing among team-leaders.
