The difficult humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip have deprived many patients of their basic right to receive medical treatment. Displaced families that have lost their homes and livelihoods are often unable to purchase medicines, even when they are urgently needed by children or elderly people living with chronic illnesses.
As part of our continued efforts to support healthcare services, we supplied medicines to a pharmacy located in northern Gaza, allowing it to provide treatment free of charge to patients in need. This intervention particularly supported children, women, and elderly patients, who are among the groups most vulnerable to health risks amid shortages of medical services and limited access to treatment.
The pharmacy team carefully reviewed medical prescriptions and provided available medicines according to each patient’s needs. The assistance included treatments used to relieve symptoms, manage chronic conditions, and protect children from health complications caused by delayed care.
Many beneficiaries expressed deep relief and gratitude, as receiving free medicine reduced a significant financial burden. Some families had been forced to choose between purchasing food and buying medication. This project therefore provided meaningful support, enabling them to protect their family members’ health without sacrificing other essential needs.
Supporting the pharmacy means more than providing packages of medicine. It gives patients an opportunity to recover, relieves children’s pain, helps elderly people continue their treatment, and reassures women and mothers that they are not facing this crisis alone.
