Many students face stress, anxiety, and emotional pressure but receive little guidance on mental health. Limited awareness in schools means many young people struggle without support. This project will organize mental health education sessions in 10 schools in Abuja during World Mental Health Day. Students will learn about emotional health, stress management, and how to seek help when facing mental health challenges.
Mental health challenges affect many young people worldwide. According to the World Health Organization, many mental health conditions begin during adolescence. In many schools students receive little information about emotional health, stress, or how to seek help when facing mental health difficulties.
The project will conduct mental health education sessions in 10 schools in Abuja during World Mental Health Day. Health educators will discuss emotional wellbeing, coping skills, and ways students can seek help when they feel overwhelmed. Educational materials will also be distributed to support learning.
Mental health education can help students understand their emotions and seek help when needed. Early awareness can reduce stigma and encourage open discussions about mental health in schools. Over time students who learn healthy coping skills are more likely to maintain better emotional health and support their peers.
