At Sam Onyemaechi Humanitarian Foundation (SOHF), we are committed to driving innovation, empowerment, and inclusive growth through youth-focused initiatives. The RYEN Program—Revolutionizing Youth Employment in Nigeria—aims to address the urgent unemployment crisis by equipping young people with the technical, digital, and entrepreneurial skills necessary to thrive in today’s evolving economy. At the heart of this vision lies the Samony Youth Tech Academy, a capital project set to become a beacon of hope for underserved Nigerian youth.
Funding Overview
To date, the RYEN Program and the establishment of the Samony Youth Tech Academy have not received any external funding. Despite this, we remain steadfast in laying a solid foundation through strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and partnerships.
Vision and Objectives
The RYEN Program seeks to revolutionize youth employment in Nigeria by:
Building a cutting-edge Youth Tech Academy equipped for digital and vocational training
Providing access to certified courses in software development, solar technology, agri-tech, AI, and technical trades
Creating a pipeline of job-ready, self-reliant, and entrepreneurial youth
Promoting inclusive learning for youth in rural and underserved regions
Milestones and Progress
1. Site Identification and Infrastructure Design
Preliminary work has begun on identifying suitable locations and designing an academy blueprint that supports tech labs, digital hubs, classrooms, and entrepreneurship incubation centers.
2. Curriculum Development
A hybrid curriculum combining vocational skills, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship has been drafted to ensure relevance to local and global job markets.
3. Strategic Partnership with EBU
We are collaborating with the European Business University of Luxembourg (EBU) to deliver scholarship-backed certificate programs in Technical and Vocational Education. This partnership will provide underserved youth with access to global-quality education and recognized credentials.
4. Multi-Purpose Hall Development
As part of the capital project, the proposed multi-purpose hall will serve as a central hub integrating key educational components under SOHF's Learning Oasis® vision. It will house:
Sam Cedar International School (Learning Oasis®) – focused on academic formation
SOHF Global Harmony School (Learning Oasis®) – providing technical and vocational training
Great Entrepreneurial Skills Actualization Hub (GESAH®) – empowering youth through entrepreneurial skills training
5. Awareness and Engagement
Advocacy efforts and stakeholder engagement are ongoing to build momentum and attract donor support.
Challenges
Capital Funding Gap: As a capital-intensive project, lack of funding remains the major barrier to kick-starting construction and operations.
Resource & Equipment Access: Technical training demands modern equipment, which we currently lack.
Public Awareness: Increasing visibility and understanding of the project’s long-term value is still in progress.
Future Prospects
1. Capital Campaign Launch
We are preparing a comprehensive fundraising campaign to mobilize resources from philanthropists, corporate sponsors, and development partners.
2. Sustainable Model
The Academy will operate as a social enterprise, generating revenue through services, short courses, and partnerships while reinvesting profits into scholarships and growth.
3. National Replication
The RYEN model is designed for scalability, with plans to replicate in other regions to reach more youth across Nigeria.
Conclusion
Though still in its early stage, the RYEN Program and the Samony Youth Tech Academy embody a bold step toward addressing Nigeria’s youth unemployment crisis. The multi-purpose hall, envisioned as a unifying hub for academic, technical, and entrepreneurial training, reflects our commitment to holistic, sustainable empowerment. We remain committed to turning this vision into a sustainable reality and call on donors, partners, and changemakers to join us in transforming the future of Nigerian youth.
With resolve and hope,
