The group met this time at a cafe. We opened the encounter with some music, as Mohamad played the Oud. We met some old friends and welcomed new participants. Initially, we discussed the importance of peace, and the attendees agreed that coming together in these challenging times, especially in Jerusalem, was the most significant aspect of our encounter. The participants then talked about grandchildren, family, and marriage. The conversation touched on the importance of how each culture views the process of choosing a partner for marriage. They also discussed the role of match makers in some of the Arab and Jewish communities and their involvement in the wedding process. A participant shared insights about marriage in Arab society, describing it as a reflection of the intertwining of traditions and social values, with a focus on the family as a fundamental pillar. Match making, whether through family or other intermediaries, remains common in some communities, whether Jewish or Muslim, particularly in traditional marriages that emphasize family, religion, and social status. We discussed the social implications of this practice for each community. Finally, all participants emphasized again the importance of their coming together.

The group started with an introductory round as new people joined.
The topic of the encounter was the holidays, and we started by asking each participant about their favorite holiday. Some participants mentioned the blessings Jews will give each other
during this period. Another shared about Sukkot and the plants that are used to symbolize unity among different parts of society. Muslim participants explained about the holiday of sacrifice (Eid al-Adha) and about the prophets Ishmael, Isaac and Abraham. They are brothers, not from one mother but from one father – Abraham, who unites us.
As usual, we finished our encounter with some music- this time with two Oud players!
