The community of Kodike majorly depends on farming and rearing birds and animals and majorly chicken and Goat's. The community of Kodike is currently facing the challenge of of scarcity of food and limited sources of income and largely contributed by the lockdown due to Corona Virus (COVID-19). However, through David Saint Care Group (DSCG) over 25 households have been helped to have a bunch of 6 birds each, i.e. 5 female hens (layers) and 1 roaster in a bid to help boost their income.
The problem of poverty and its negative effects in rural Uganda and specifically in Kodike Parish of Nyero Sub-ounty Kumi District in North East Uganda, is due a number of factors among; dependently thinking, lack of skills and knowledge and lack of awareness about natural opportunities around their surrounding environment and the effects of climatic changes in the area especially on rainfall patterns. After long-term of the project, If the project is successfully implemented with all improtant assumption met, the project is expected to meet the needs of the rural vulnerable persons of nyero sub county in general and kodike parish in particular.
