Clean water is not a luxury—it is a basic human right. Yet for hundreds of children in Ortese, Benue State, Nigeria, this simple necessity remains painfully out of reach. Instead of turning on a tap or visiting a safe community water point, many children begin each day by walking long distances to collect water from contaminated streams and stagnant ponds. The water they bring home may quench their thirst, but it also carries the constant threat of disease.
Every glass of unsafe water puts a child's health, education, and future at risk. Waterborne illnesses such as diarrhea, cholera, and typhoid force children to miss school, weaken their physical development, and place additional financial and emotional strain on families already struggling to recover from years of conflict and displacement. What should be a simple daily routine becomes a dangerous gamble with a child's life.
This does not have to be their reality.
Through this project, GoGreen is working to provide sustainable, community-managed safe water systems that will give vulnerable families reliable access to clean drinking water for years to come. Clean water will mean healthier children, fewer preventable illnesses, improved school attendance, better hygiene, and stronger, more resilient communities. It is one of the most effective investments we can make in protecting children's lives and restoring hope.
But we cannot achieve this without compassionate supporters like you.
Every gift you make brings us closer to a future where no child has to choose between thirst and sickness. Your generosity will help transform unsafe water sources into life-saving solutions and replace fear with opportunity.
No child should suffer simply because they need a glass of water. Please give today and help us change the story for the children of Ortese—one family, one community, and one life at a time.
