Across Benue State, families are bravely embarking on the journey home after years of conflict and displacement. In Ortese, parents are reconstructing their homes, farmers are returning to their land, and children are eager to resume their education.
Yet, one critical resource remains out of reach: safe drinking water.
With boreholes destroyed and streams contaminated, families have little choice but to use unsafe water, putting children at risk of preventable diseases. Recent flooding has further compromised these fragile sources, intensifying the threat of waterborne illness and undermining the community’s recovery efforts.
Clean water is essential for true recovery. Without it, progress stalls—children fall ill and miss school, families face ongoing hardship, and hope for a stable future is diminished.
Your support can change this trajectory. By helping to restore safe water systems, you can safeguard children’s health, reduce disease, boost school attendance, and strengthen the resilience of the entire community.
Every family deserves the opportunity to rebuild with dignity and security.
Please support our Safe Water for Displaced Kids in Northern Nigeria project through GlobalGiving. Together, we can ensure that recovery in Ortese and beyond starts with one of life’s most fundamental necessities—safe, clean water.
