Every Child Deserves a Safe Drink of Water

By JACKSON AMEH | Project Leader

No child should suffer illness simply because they were thirsty. Yet in Ortese, many children continue to rely on contaminated streams for drinking water after years of conflict destroyed the community’s water systems.

The impact of unsafe water extends far beyond health. Frequent illness keeps children away from school, hindering their education and growth. Families are forced to spend precious resources on medical care, slowing their recovery and limiting opportunities to rebuild. Meanwhile, women and girls often walk long distances to find water, sacrificing valuable time that could be spent in school or pursuing economic activities.

Access to safe water can transform this reality. Clean water keeps children healthy and able to attend school consistently. It means girls can remain in the classroom, and families are free to focus on restoring their lives rather than battling preventable diseases.

Your support can help make this change possible. By joining us on GlobalGiving, you’ll help bring safe, reliable water to Ortese—protecting children, strengthening families, and giving the entire community a chance to build a brighter, healthier future.

Please donate today. Together, we can ensure that every child in Ortese has the simple, life-changing gift of safe drinking water.
