A community once devastated by conflict is finding hope again. And together, we have an opportunity to turn that hope into something every child deserves: SAFE, CLEAN DRINKING WATER.
In rural communities across Guma Local Government Area of Benue State, Nigeria, years of violent conflict have left families displaced, livelihoods destroyed, and essential services severely disrupted. For children growing up in these difficult circumstances, even something as basic as a glass of clean drinking water remains a daily struggle.
Imagine surviving violent conflict, returning to rebuild your life, and still having to drink from contaminated streams because there is no safe alternative.
Imagine a mother watching her child drink unsafe water, knowing the health risks, but having no other choice.
Imagine children whose opportunities to learn, grow, and thrive are threatened by preventable waterborne diseases.
This is the reality we are working to change.
Through our Safe Water for Displaced Kids in Northern Nigeria project, GoGreen Environmental Health Sustainability Initiatives is working to restore access to safe and reliable drinking water for vulnerable children and families in Ortese.
Today, we are excited to share some encouraging progress! We are taking important steps to improve community water infrastructure. What once seemed like a distant dream is gradually becoming a possibility.
But progress is not the same as completion.
There is still work to be done to ensure that children and families can access safe, reliable, and sustainable drinking water.
We need additional support to advance the necessary water infrastructure, ensure water quality and safety, strengthen maintenance systems, and promote essential hygiene practices.
We cannot afford to stop halfway, especially when children's health, dignity, and futures are at stake.
Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us closer to a future where children no longer have to depend on contaminated streams, where mothers can worry less about waterborne diseases, and where families recovering from conflict can rebuild their lives with dignity.
To our donors and supporters who have helped us come this far, THANK YOU! Your generosity is helping transform compassion into meaningful action. And to everyone considering supporting this initiative, we invite you to join us on this journey.
Because no child should survive conflict only to face preventable illness from the water they drink.
Safe Water Is Not a Luxury. It Is a Lifeline. And Every Child Deserves One.
