Challenge

In Leeuwfontien Baviaanspoort informal settlement is a poor community with 90% poverty rate. Families living in slums. 70% of children are sexually abuse and molested. Many children are orphaned, disabled and cared by their relatives. Some of the relatives/guardians raising these children abuse them sexually and these children are afraid to report the sexually abuse cases to the police or tells anyone because of fear, disbelief, blame, reprisals, public shame or being forced out of the homes.

Solution

Support us to build a rescue center to provide shelter, feeding, education, empowerment and psychological therapy services to treat cases of childhood sexual abuse, providing structure to monitor, intervene and assist the criminal justice process to assert the best interests of a child victim, from point-of-rescue to court hearing. Using therapeutic methods to obtain forensic evidence, our Child Safety Officer collaborates with the criminal justice system ensuring the rights of every child

Long-Term Impact

Over 500 children are sexually abuse every year in the informal settlement of leauwfontein South Africa. Our rescue center will provide shelter for 120 sexually abused children or any child that undergoes any form of abuse, providing each child with access to crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling, and prevention education services for those impacted by domestic violence, sexual assault and child sexual abuse. Confidential services are provided to all victims
