Support the European LGBTI movement

What a year 2023 has been for ILGA-Europe! A year of growth and consolidation, of forwardlooking thinking and planning, of transition and renewal. We paid particular attention to thinking about what social acceptance, inclusion, equal societies and economies look like, and how we can together push change in these areas over the next five years.

The ILGA-Europe team have carried out a hugely impressive amount of work throughout the year. We launched several new programmes and regranting schemes, which is further increasing our flexibility to support LGBTI organisations and expanding our connection with the movements in different countries and sub-regions. We have invested time in designing new innovative ways in which we can facilitate learning and sharing of experiences amongst activists. We have built on our deep connections with institutions, politicians and policy makers, both in Brussels and nationally across the region, to push for new and better European legislation, to advocate for standard-setting by our regional institutions, and to actively support the translation of laws into practice by public authorities.

Here are some impact figures from our 2023 Activity Report:

• ILGA-Europe supported 81 LGBTI groups with funding and learning.
• We issued 75 new grants to LGBTI groups in 25 countries, totalling €1,613,072. 
• We organised 35 online learning sessions to build the skills and capacity of LGBTI activists across the region. 
• We direclty supported the advocacy efforts of LGBTI activists in 29 countries.
• We visited 14 countries to meet with frontline LGBTI activists and other key stakeholders.
• We published 9 briefing reports in our 'Intersections' series, diving into data and zooming into the lived experiences of specific groups within the LGBTI community.
