Support 550 Displaced Girl Children Back to School

Summary

This Initiative aims at raising support and awareness of the plight of the internally displaced girls in our community. This is to help 550 Girl children back to school by providing breakfast and lunch, non-tuition fees, books, pens, uniforms, shoes, and sanitary pads. 550 out-of-school girls in our community need to be back in school. Your support will help give them a leg up in life and strengthen our community's future. Also, it will help prevent forced marriage and absenteeism from school.

Challenge

The insurgency in northeast Nigeria wreaked havoc on families and most fled their homes to avoid violence and death. Because of this, many were displaced and fled to Abuja for safety. Majority of those that fled are children and women. At the moment, these families stay at IDP Camps. Children that are old enough for primary school do not go to school because their parents are unable to afford meals and non-tuition school costs. We do not want these girls forced into early marriage

Solution

One of the most significant tools to empower girls within their families and communities is education. Due to overpopulation, family separation, a lack of basic social services, and desperate survival strategies such as child marriage, there is a high danger of gender-based violence, and physical, and sexual assault. Many youngsters will be encouraged to drop out of school, and some will never return. This project will address all of that. Main issue why they don't attend school is lack of Food

Long-Term Impact

Empowered girls mean healthier families. When girls are educated, healthy, and empowered, families, are healthier. According to UNESCO, 2.1 million children under age 5 were saved between 1990 and 2009 because of improvements in girls' education. School feeding programs are targeted social safety nets that provide both educational and health benefits to the most vulnerable children, thereby increasing enrollment rates, reducing absenteeism, and improving food security at the household level.
