Support the girl-child in Computer training

Dear GlobalGiving and Esteemed Donors,

We are pleased to share significant progress on our Computer Training Centre for girls—an initiative that continues to transform lives by expanding access to digital skills and economic opportunities.

To date, the centre has successfully trained over 250 girls, many of whom had never previously seen or used a computer. This achievement marks a major step toward bridging the digital divide and empowering girls with skills essential for education, employment, and independence.

Currently, the centre is equipped with 23 computers and supporting accessories. Due to the growing demand, we have enrolled an additional 185 girls in our latest intake. The overwhelming interest highlights both the need for and the value of this intervention. Importantly, the training remains completely free, ensuring that even the most vulnerable girls can participate without financial barriers.

To strengthen long-term impact, we have integrated entrepreneurship education into the curriculum. This equips participants not only with digital literacy but also with the mindset and skills to start small businesses and pursue self-reliance upon completion.

Despite these successes, the project faces key operational challenges. Rising fuel costs have significantly increased the cost of running the centre, while inconsistent electricity supply remains a major constraint to effective learning. We are actively exploring sustainable solutions, including alternative power sources, to ensure uninterrupted training.

We are therefore seeking additional support to expand our capacity by procuring more computers, improving power supply, and sustaining operations. With your continued partnership, we can reach even more girls and equip them with the tools to build brighter futures.
