Greetings HOPE Supporters,
Heat is blanketing much of the earth lately. And the topic of EAS (equine-assisted services) is a hot one in China these days. What HOPE began in 2009 may now be getting some traction!
Thank you to the HKJC (Hong Kong Jockey Club), including the Equine Affairs Department. They are helping us to educate folks in China about EAS and sponsored two recent events.
The first was the “HKJC 2nd Conference on Horses for Therapy” held in Beijing in May. The HOPE team was honored to speak (and network with others) at the conference. Attendees came to HOPE on the second day of the conference to participate in sessions incorporating HOPE horses and instructors. It was fun and educational!
Next, we conducted a three-day training at HOPE, also sponsored by the HKJC. Thankfully Dong Fang Ma Hui, the lovely stables where HOPE is housed, worked with us by providing classroom space, a shaded arena, and break area next to the HOPE office. Feedback from the trainings were positive – for which we are grateful because the entire team put a lot of effort into organizing and conducting the workshops.
We would also like to highlight Amy Tripson, PATH Intl. Advanced Certified Instructor who lived in Beijing in 2019. In her time with HOPE, she significantly helped Lucia Zhou, HOPE Program Director (and so much more!) become a PATH Intl. Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor. Amy just completed her Doctorate in Leadership Studies, and despite being a horse and homeowner, she remains an active HOPE team member!
Our regular EAS sessions are winding down as we prepare for Summer Camp. And the team in Beijing will take a much needed break in August, when the heat and humidity intensify.
In closing, we want to sincerely thank you for your generous donations and dedication to HOPE. Our success is in large part because of supporters like you. Thank you – for believing in us and sustaining us.
In gratitude,
PriscillaPriscilla, Amy, and the HOPE team
