This project will allow two of the first social workers in South Sudan to attend a 3-week training on women empowerment and economic development in Israel. The training is fully funded, but they need to purchase their own flight tickets. Through this training, Lily and Judith will be able to bring new skills and knowledge back to South Sudan and integrate it into their existing projects and work in general, reaching over 200 households every week.
Judith and Lily are two female social workers - some of the first Social Workers in the World's newest nation, South Sudan. In their country, they are perceived as significant role models for many women and girls, and are powerful actors of social change. They were offered a 3-week training on women economic empowerment in Israel organized by MASHAV, the Israeli Aid Agency, and UN Women. Although the training is fully funded, they need help to buy flight tickets.
This project will raise $2,500 to contribute to the purchase of 2 round-trip tickets for both Judith and Lily to attend the training.
With the new skills acquired in this training, the two social workers will be able to achieve their professional and personal goal of encouraging the women of South Sudan to become powerful actors of social, economic and political change. Every week they reach more than 200 families through women/youth empowerment activities, awareness-raising and other prevention related activities - empowering women to be self-reliant, start their own businesses, and play a stronger role in society.
