Dear Friend,

From the earliest days, UNICEF, in support of the Venezuelan government, has worked round the clock to address the needs of affected children and families, delivering emergency assistance while beginning the longer task of recovery. Restoring health facilities and water systems and providing critical humanitarian relief, while also supporting children’s mental health.

Your support carried children through the most terrible days of this disaster. Here is what the first 100 days made possible.

Health

  • 53,605 children and women reached with primary health care through UNICEF-supported services
  • 33,303 children, adults and pregnant women received routine and catch-up vaccinations

Nutrition

  • 14,305 children under five screened for wasting
  • 9,926 primary caregivers received infant and young child feeding counselling

Child Protection

  • 21,719 children, adolescents and caregivers reached with community-based mental health and psychosocial support

Education

  • 591 children accessed formal and non-formal learning, including early learning
  • 649 teachers trained on Education in Emergencies

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)

  • 17,391 people with access to sufficient quantity and quality of water for drinking and domestic needs
  • 16,229 people affected by the earthquakes reached with critical WASH supplies

The scale of need continues to outpace the available resources, and recovery is far from finished. But the first 100 days are not a small thing, and they did not happen on their own.

Thank you. Your partnership is what makes it possible.

In partnership,

Sha Ni Wang
Senior Associate, Corporate and Civil Society Partnerships
