Dear friends,
Thank you for supporting university students through Save a Life. Following our earlier workshop on cyber safety and gender-based violence law, this quarter we continued building young people's knowledge of their rights, online and offline.
Youth Media Ambassadors. Save a Life is running a two-day residential training for Youth Media Ambassadors from the Department of Media Studies, University of Jaffna, with support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The training covers ethical journalism, digital rights, responsible communication online and freedom of expression. These are the same skills students need to stay safe and be heard online.
Women's legal rights. Under our POWER Programme, supported by Diakonia, we held legal literacy sessions on women's rights under Thesavalamai law, the customary law that governs property and inheritance in the North. Sessions reached women leaders and journalists in Jaffna, and journalists and families of disappeared persons in Kilinochchi. We also consulted lecturers from the Department of Law, University of Jaffna, on policy reform.
What's next. We will keep offering digital safety and legal awareness sessions for female university students, building on this year's workshops. Your donations help us bring trainers, materials and safe learning spaces to these students.
With gratitude,
The Save a Life team
