Today, Shaker needs that same chance.
Shaker is a father of six who has endured years of war, repeated displacement, and tremendous hardship. Yet after surviving all of this, he was faced with another painful struggle.
He was diagnosed with achalasia, a serious condition affecting the lower esophagus that makes eating and drinking extremely difficult and causes severe pain.
For Shaker, something as simple as swallowing a meal has become a daily struggle.
His treatment is beyond what his family can afford, and his journey toward recovery is not yet complete.
