Project Report | Mar 2, 2026
progress report 2026

By Sylvie Ebitoh | Project Coordinator

The activities of “THE REMOTE COMMUNITIES HEALTH PROMOTION PROJECT” funded by the GlobalGiving crowdfunding platform continued through this season of 2026. Health care services being one of the priorities of the CHWs in this remote communities has be going on. The population keeps benefiting from the various activities carried out in these communities which include: treatment of simple malaria, treatment of simple diarrhea, referral of complicated cases, screening of children <5 years for malnutrition, referral of high-risk pregnant women to the health facilities for ANC, provision of maternal kits and health sensitization. Other continuous activities carried out within the months were the treatment of minor skin infections/irritations and the distribution of Ferrous Folate to pregnant women.

During this reporting period, over 400 children have been engaged by the CHWs in Kitta and other communities. Some of these communities still lacked access to basic malaria treatment, relying instead on traditional methods. Thanks to the funding from GlobalGiving, these communities have benefited from medical attention. In this light the CHWs received 105 people with health problems, referred some severe cases of malaria and some cases of severe diarrhea were referred to the Ekondo Titi District Hospital. Hygiene sensitization still continued (hand washing, food hygiene, body hygiene, and environmental hygiene), preparation of ORS, importance of ANC, infant vaccination, and the proper use of LLINs.

Poor communication due to faulty network is still one the main challenge faced by the CHWs in this remote communities.

The plan to continue providing health care services to vulnerable persons, conduct sensitization for health promotion, screen for severe acute malnutrition continues. With the funding from GlobalGiving all these plans can be actualized
