Dear KEDV Supporters,
We sincerely thank you for your continued support of KEDV and the Women and Children Centers we established in the provinces affected by the devastating earthquake in Türkiye.
As part of our earthquake response program, we aimed to support those most affected—especially women and children—by ensuring their leadership in recovery efforts and addressing their urgent needs. To facilitate community participation in humanitarian aid and reconstruction, we launched 12 Women and Children Centers across the region.
To support women's psychosocial well-being and economic empowerment, we provided courses in entrepreneurship, skills training, English, literacy, leadership, advocacy, financial literacy, and digital literacy. Since 2023, these programs have reached 1,441 women. Additionally, we organized awareness sessions on fundamental rights, benefiting 4,924 women and children.
As part of our Early Childhood Activities, we established Toy Libraries, ensuring 1,377 children had access to educational resources and play-based learning.
Understanding that access to menstrual products is a basic human right, we conducted public health sessions on topics such as menopause education, menstrual hygiene, and breast examination, empowering women with vital health knowledge. Additionally, we raised awareness about lice and scabies outbreaks, childhood diseases, menstrual stress management, and gender equality through Sisterhood Workshops. In total, 3,450 people participated in these public health sessions.
The February 6, 2023 earthquakes resulted in at least 50,000 deaths, over 100,000 injuries, and affected 9.1 million people. 3 million people were displaced, and around 300,000 buildings were damaged or destroyed.
In the aftermath, many struggled to access clean water, sanitation, and essential services, particularly women, children, the elderly, and vulnerable groups. Over the past two years, we have worked extensively on water infrastructure, public health protection, risk prevention, food security, and livelihood reconstruction to ensure long-term, sustainable recovery. We continue to collaborate with women-led organizations and local networks to restore well-being and rebuild cities economically and socially.
Together, We Have Reached 611,037 People!
Through our humanitarian aid, recovery, and reconstruction efforts, KEDV has reached 611,037 people in 400 locations across the earthquake-affected region.
