This project will support Youth Team members, aged 14-25 from across the UK, in receiving training, mentoring and funding to implement sustainable social action in their communities. Having had the opportunity to become young leaders with PeaceJam UK, the Youth Team offers a follow-on year-long mentoring fellowship. This allows members to develop their skills through a number of training days, one-to-one mentoring sessions and wrap-around support in enacting change.
Today's youth is passionate about creating change but struggle without the necessary training, funds and a lack of experience to implement sustainable change. Our solution is to take on a group of young leaders to join our Youth Team for a year-long mentorship fellowship to provide this support but this requires funds. Creating social change does not happen overnight, we cannot expect our young people to know how to implement and fund sustainable and impactful social change overnight either.
This project will fund training and mentorship for our Youth Team members to learn how to implement sustainable social action. As well as provide the funds for the implementation of projects. It will also provide support for youth members, without access to funds, travel and event bursaries. Allowing them the opportunity to attend in-person training and engage in our inspirational one-day and two-day conferences with Nobel Peace Prize winners.
Our Youth Team members are taught how to create sustainable change which means their projects continue to have a long-term impact and with each new academic year we take on more youth, who in turn create and enact further projects. Additionally, supporting and mentoring young leaders provides them with the skills and experience to support and inspire others, continuing the facilitation of the next generation of young changemakers.
